Christ-the-redeemer is a 30metre (98ft) high, without the pedestal, statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The statue was created by Paul Landowski who was a French sculpture and then built by Heitor da Silva Costa the Brazilian engineer between 1922 and October 1931. 

Including its base, the Art Deco style statue is 38metres (125ft) high and has an impressive arm stretch of 28metres (92ft), this statue is made of soapstone and reinforced concrete, and weighs 635 metric tons. You can find the statue on the Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest which overlooks the city of Rio. The statue is a symbol of Christianity and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Christ-the-redeemer has also been listed as one of the New7 Wonders of the World.
