Description
Early British computer.
First stored-program computer in regular use.
Large-scale electronic calculating machine in which ultrasonic delay units are used for storage of orders and numbers.
Developed at Britain's Cambridge University. Designer and creator was Sir Maurice Wilkes.
Memory : 512 17-bit words, upgraded in 1952 to 1024 17-bit words.
Finally shut down in 1958, having been superseded by EDSAC 2, which remained in use until 1965.
