Fountain pen


Basic information
Writing instrument with a metal nib and using an internal reservoir to hold ink.
When such a pen was developed, it had a reservoir of ink in its barrel, thus the name fountain pen.
The first English patent for a fountain pen was issued in May 1809 to Frederick Fölsch, an improved fountain pen feed issued to Joseph Bramah in September 1809
The fountain pen was available before but it was Romanian inventor Petrache Poenaru who received a French patent in 1827. The pen had a barrel made from a large swan quill.
It went through the years and inovations, as a pen clip,deflatable rubber sac to hold the ink, airtight cap and others, also plastic pen cartridge wasn't available until 1953, introduced by Waterman pens
Mass-produced fountain pen started in the 1880s. Dominant American producers were Waterman.
