Created by an American inventor, Walter Frederick Morrison, in 1948.
Already Ancient Greeks threw discuses, that were used in the original Olympic Games in Greece and later throwing cake or pie pans were popular, but Fred Morrison had the idea to make a plastic version.
Officially trademarked by Wham-O Toys, first sold as the “Pluto Platter.” in 1957
It is generally made of injection-molded plastic and roughly 8 to 10 inches (20 to 25 cm) in diameter with a pronounced lip.
There is a wide range of flying disc variants.
