Smarty Jones horse

Smarty Jones was a Thoroughbred racehorse who was born in 2001. He was bred by Roy and Patricia Chapman at their Someday Farm near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was sired by Elusive Quality and his dam was I'll Get Along.

Smarty Jones was an American racehorse that won the 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. He became only the second horse in history to win the first two legs of the American Triple Crown and the first since Affirmed in 1978. Smarty Jones was trained by John Servis and ridden by Stewart Elliott.

Smarty Jones was a fan favorite and won eight consecutive races, including a thrilling victory in the Kentucky Derby. His popularity was due in part to his humble beginnings, being born at a small breeding farm in Pennsylvania, as well as his strong performances on the track. He was a consistent and tough competitor, finishing in the top three in all but one of his races.

In addition to the Triple Crown, Smarty Jones also won the Grade I Arkansas Derby, Rebel Stakes and Southwest Stakes. He was an Eclipse Award winner for Champion Three-Year-Old Colt and was voted the 2004 Horse of the Year.

Today, Smarty Jones is remembered as one of the most beloved racehorses of all time. He retired to Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky and stood at stud for several years before being pensioned.
