Description
popular cycling race
The first Tour De France cycling race was from 1 to the 19 July 1903 and it was in six stages over 2,428 km (1,509 mi), it now is an anual men's cycling race that is held mainly in France but sometimes passes into nerby countries. The race now has 21 day long stages and is a 23 day course that covers 3,500 kilometres (2,200 mi). It is been said to be the "the world’s most prestigious and most difficult bicycle race" and the "the world's biggest annual sporting event." The event is usually held in July, with the routes changeing each year, and the laps of France alternating between clockwise and counter clockwise, but each year the race follows the same format.
